I Made An Investigative Documentary Series And It Premieres World Wide Next Month
Crave announced today that its new, four-part original gripping investigative docuseries, THUNDER BAY, premieres on Friday, Feb. 17 in both English and French.
I’m proud to announce the airdates for Thunder Bay, the documentary series I made with eOne for CRAVE TV. THUNDER BAY debuts on Feb. 17, 2023, with the first two episodes, followed by the final two on Feb. 24, 2023.
The journey of making a TV series in Canada is a daunting one. When this process all started, it was overwhelming - from creating the idea and dreaming of the visuals in how to tell the story, to working with a production company (thanks, eOne) that can help you realize the visual landscape you have in your head, to finding a broadcaster to order the show to help bring it to the world. These things are so far-fetched, so unlikely and incredibly rare that finally being here on the day of the announcement is surreal.
THUNDER BAY EPISODE SYNOPSISES
EPISODE 1 – MURDER CAPITAL #1
Journalist and host Ryan McMahon is determined to uncover the truth behind multiple teenage deaths in Thunder Bay’s waterways.
EPISODE 2 – WHODUNIT
Ryan explores three theories behind the deaths: serial killers, gang violence, and, darkest of all, racist vigilantes.
EPISODE 3 – NO FOUL PLAY
Ryan suspects that the police’s failure to investigate Indigenous deaths may be intentional after an inside source seeks him out.
EPISODE 4 – THE HIVE
Ryan learns some inside information about the police force, and his worst fears are confirmed after he receives a covertly leaked report.

MY THANKS AND LOVE
A big thanks to people eOne, Bell Media, Canadaland, Cooke McDermid and the rest of my team for standing by this work when telling this story got difficult. A special thanks to my brother and comrade, Jon Thompson. A tip of the hat to series producer and co-director Leslie Lucas. All love to the creative team - the editors, story producers, and everyone in post-production. We did something special here that will shed light on this story in ways that no one has yet.
Special mention to the families and community members in and around Thunder Bay who trusted us with their stories of loss and grief. Your contribution is an important one. In sharing your stories, you’ve helped to heal a troubled city. My good heart and mind are with you all.
All my love to my family, beautiful children, and partner Madeline. Your love and support are everything to me.
